I accomplished something on my life-to-do-list!
While visiting my daughter last week in Colorado, we went on a dog-sled ride. We drove three and a half hours into the mountains to Leadville Colorado where our Alpine Adventure Dog Sled ride took place.
It was remarkable! The snow was deep, the day bright with clear sunshine and really cold! The team of dogs that pulled the sleds were athletes and ran like the wind! They seemed to enjoy our ride almost more than we did.
I was tucked deep into the sled, wrapped in a blanket then covered cocoon-like with the sled tarp. Sarah stood behind me with feet on the sled rails. Our guide, an enthusiastic world-class women’s kayaker and all around athlete at any sport, opened up the world of dog sledding to us we could never imagine! I say put this adventure on your life-to-do list!
Spending a week in the beautiful state of Colorado got me thinking about places.
There are thousands of moments to enjoy the beauty all around us, if we will just take the time to look about and see it.
I decided I am not going to wait for a time away on vacation to notice the splendor of my surroundings. The snow on the trees in my own backyard is as pretty as the snow on the aspen trees of Colorado. We are blessed to live in a country where splendor and majesty are everywhere!
Next time you are stuck in traffic, waiting in the carpool line or just heading out the door, take a moment to see the beauty that is all around, it will lighten your load and give a bit of sparkle to your day.
