My dad was an award-winning college basketball coach.
In 1993 he wrote and published a book for coaches to understand how to motivate players who only (or mostly) sit on the bench during games and rarely get to play on the field.
After he died, I was going through his desk and found this book (originally titled The Sweet Smell of Pine). In paging through it, I recognized the important message that still needed telling, even after 30 years. So I called up two of his old friends who leaped at the chance to help update and share it with the world.
Dan Wood wrote Suit Up Sit Down’s foreword. He is the Executive Director of the National Christian College Athletic Association, a non-profit organization that my dad founded. Tom Roy, a great friend to dad, helped with updating some of the athletic references and introduction to this 2nd edition.
I’m honored to share with you this timeless message for coaches, athletes, and leaders of all kinds. Please read it, rate/review it on Amazon, and share it with anyone you know who has a team or is part of a team, even in business! I know they will glean something from it, especially if they love sports as much as my dad did.
